A slightly riper and agreeably fresh nose offers up vaguely exotic aromas of white peach, poached pear and melon, along with wisps of citrus confit and an interesting hint of tangerine peel. The attractively textured and energetic medium weight flavors possess evident minerality and solid detail together with good power on the complex and long if slightly warm finale. This youthfully austere effort is actually quite energetic in the context of the 2018 vintage and a wine that should repay mid-term keeping.

At Domaine Ponsot wine is produced out of fashion. These choices are not dictated by a sort of occult resulting from what is now called the "non-interventionism." Instead, it is much more difficult to resist, even though human, correct individual defects occurring during aging of wines, or to act upstream of the culture of the vine to standardize quality and guard against the vagaries of climate.
